Last Wednesday, Team Real Estate partnered with eight other local businesses to host the first “3 Cans And A Good Time Happiest Hour” networking event. This networking event was not created solely to garner connections within the community, but to support our community by raising donations of food and funds for New Hope Food Pantry.
Who is New Hope Food Pantry?
New Hope Food Pantry is an amazing organization that serves thousands of families a year, right here in Johnson County. They are currently averaging about 30 new families per day, which is much higher than in the past. In fact, they have served over 23,000 people this year from January 1st to September 30th. That’s more than all of last year combined.
Unfortunately, due to the current economic conditions and supply chain issues, New Hope is finding it harder to provide for the number of families coming through their doors. The amount of food and funds being donated has dropped, food prices have risen, and the number of items they can order through Harvesters has dropped by over 50%. And on top of that, their yearly budget for buying the food they don’t receive as donations is only $6,000! That just doesn’t go very far these days. We knew we needed to help!
The Outcome
Thanks to all of the generous attendees at our 3 Cans And A Good Time Happiest Hour, we were able to give the New Hope Food Pantry 199 pounds of food, and we even raised a little cash!
