We held our third 3 Cans event this week and are excited to share the outcome with you!

New Hope Food Pantry is an emergency food pantry that serves families in Johnson, Miami and Wyandotte Counties. In 2022, they graciously served 7,561 families. That’s 1,766 more families than in 2021. With the current state of the economy, that number is expected to continue growing in 2023. And while the number of families served increased by 30% last year, the amount of food donated in 2022 decreased massively. As Caylon Umphrey told us Wednesday night, “We finished down 30,000 pounds of food from the year before, and our numbers went up. Basically what that means is we had less food for more people. So these events are huge for us.” And not only that, but “Our budget is very low. We have about $600 a month to spend on food so we really depend on the community to come together and help.”
So how big of a help were we this time around? This was our third 3 Cans event and we continue to increase the number of bodies through the door and the amount of food donated each time. This week we were able to raise an astounding 863 pounds! While that’s not quite what our goal was this time, it’s still more than last time! We will keep shooting for bigger numbers because this is an unbelievably worthy cause.
