Giving back to our community, while having a good time.
Food insecurity is on the rise in the Johnson County area. There are 1,100 students classified as homeless in Johnson County, and 25,000 homes go to bed hungry every night. That’s where Mission Southside’s Back Snack Program comes in. The purpose of the Back Snack Program is to provide food for children who would otherwise have nothing to eat on weekends. For many of these kids, the only meals they receive on the weekend are these packs. Help us make sure this pantry stays stocked and these kids stay fed!

Who Is Mission Southside?
Mission Southside has a neighbor’s heart … a heart that loves Jesus Christ and one that genuinely cares about the needs of others. Mission Southside is dedicated to serving the community by providing essential resources and support to those in need. Through programs like Homework Huddles, they offer after-school assistance to elementary students, helping them succeed academically. Their Back Snack Program ensures that children facing food insecurity have meals over the weekend, filling a critical gap for those on free or reduced lunch. The Food Co-Op distributes groceries to local neighborhoods, providing stability for families in need. Additionally, their Holy Haulers ministry collects and delivers large furniture and appliances to those who lack basic household essentials. Mission Southside’s work is rooted in love and service, bringing hope to the community through practical assistance.

34,910 Pounds Of Food Raised And Counting!
In just over 2 years of hosting 3 Cans & A Good Time food drives, we have raised nearly EIGHTEEN TONS OF FOOD! We have grown from an initial 199 pounds of food raised at the inaugural event to over 8,000 pounds at our August 2024 event!
“3 Cans & a Good Time are my favorite events that I attend for the pantry! This well-attended food drive has not only raised thousands of pounds of food, but is also very fun! This event has surpassed my expectations from inception and is the most successful food drive we have all year.”
